I was very much against the medical system and medical doctors when I got out of Chiropractic School. I thought why don’t Medical Doctors know the connection of the spine to all the organs, glands, muscles of the human body. All they do is drug people up get them addicted for life and perform many needless surgeries. Now my attitude has changed somewhat. There are some medical doctors that practice what’s called Holistic Medicine. They don’t prescribe drugs but teach patients what they truly need... healthy diet, exercise, whole food vitamin supplements, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Massage etc. Those types of medical doctors are Rare. I’m not sure there are any of those in El Paso. And Emergency Room Physicians do save lives every day. Gunshot/stab wounds, heart attacks etc. Orthopedic surgeons improve the quality of life for many with hip/knee replacements but most still do many needless surgeries. I am forever Grateful and Proud to be in the Chiropractic Profession that has helped millions of patients avoid dangerous addicting prescription drugs and unnecessary surgeries. I would do it all over again. I hope and pray to be around for at least another 10 years doing what I love.... helping my fellow humans.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when seeing a Chiropractor is they don’t follow through with their care. I always tell patients “It might take 2-3 session or more to get you out of pain”. Yes many patients have written Google Reviews and said how they came in with severe pain and left with no pain after only one session. It happens for some people some of the times. I always hope it happens for each and every patient but it doesn’t always happen. HEALTH TIP #920 Lift with your legs NOT you back! Especially when lifting boxes or anything that is heavy. But I’ve had patients bend over to lift something very light but because they bent over the wrong way they hurt their spine. Repeated bending the wrong way stretches the ligaments that hold the spine tightly and start to stretch and give way causing the spine to misalign and cause PAIN! Practice, practice, practice. Catch yourself bending or lifting the wrong way and CORRECT IT! Your spine and back muscles will LOVE YOU!

I have often said to my patients. “Exercise is Medicine to the Mind & Body!” When I stop exercising for a month or two or more I feel the effects. Less energy, moody, less libido, I eat more and usually more of the wrong foods that I should be eating less of. The right exercise is Vital. It could be walking if you don’t have knee or hip pain. Bicycle riding is best if you do have knee or hip pain. Then there’s weight lifting. Many ladies neglect this part of exercise but it is equally important as is Cardio. You don’t have to lift very heavy weights and in fact I caution patients about “dead lifts” and “squats”. I treated MANY patients who got hurt doing those two exercises. Exercise IS THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH AS IS HAVING A HEALTHY DIET! Exercise increase your hormone levels that decrease as one ages. Exercise gives you energy, boosts your metabolism and so MANY MORE BENEFITS! Exercise improves your mental, emotional and physical health. Now that the weather is cooling take advantage and get back on track to your exercise routines! It could be as simple as going for a 30 minute walk every day.

There are differences between hanging from your ankles like on a Teeter or IronMan Inversion Table and Hanging upside upside down on my Inversion Machine. There are some significant differences. I’ve put thousands of patients on both types over the last 30 years and here’s what people said when comparing both. Hanging from the ankles: “It hurts my knees”, “ it hurts my ankles”, “I don’t like the feeling of going backwards... it feels like I’m falling”, “it hurts my hips” “it’s too big and bulky” “I don’t have room for this machine” Only about 10% said “I like it”. You can do more stretches and core strengthening exercises on mine that you cannot do on the other bigger inversion table. Also mine folds up for easy put away/storage.
