I often get asked if I take Health Insurance. The first thing I do is ask “How much is your deductible? $1000, $1500, $2000. And has it been met? If it has not your insurance does not start to cover until you’ve paid up to your deductible. The second question is how much is your Co-Pay for a Specialist? $30, $40, $50? If your deductible has been met and your insurance covers 80% you still pay 20% of a typical doctor visit which is anywhere from $125-250 depending on the doctor. 20% of $125 is $25 plus your co-pay of $30, $40 or $50. Even on the low end you’ll still pay around $55 if the deductible has been met. What do you get. To see a doctor who takes your insurance and maybe some good hands on treating to correct the cause of your pain. If not your wasting time and money. Especially for people who go to medical doctors and get nothing more than more pills.
